Casual Friends Or With Intentions?

Here's a situation : Say there's a friend who is attached, treats you really really nice, calls and SMS-es you everyday, asks you out for dinner, drinks and stuffs. Very charming and matured person, someone that you can be interested in. He's giving you funny signals. Is he being just friendly to you or something else?

Note : I'm in no way of being involved in this kind of situation, perhaps as a "consultant" for a friend who's having this dilemma. I suggested that she ask him indirectly about this situation, and his reasons are :-

* he enjoys your companionship
* he's confused
* he doesn't want to hurt his girlfriend
* he's a player
* he's a dickhead

Heheheh... I personally like the 5th answer... But what do you think? What is the guy up to?
